Summary:The new ligand, 3-amino-2-carboxypyridine-N-oxide 4 has been synthesized as a potential precursor to highly efficient light conversion molecular devices. The synthesis, characterization and some properties of a complex of this ligand, tris(3-aminopyridine-2-carboxylato-N-oxide)triaqua europium(III), are described. The complex exhibits a remarkably strong luminescence and a long decay lifetime (615 μs).
