Crystal structure of YGe3, YGe1.9 and a novel Y3Ge4 compound

Summary: | The crystal structure of the known YGe3 (`YGe3.5') and YGe1.9 (`YGe2') compounds and the novel Y3Ge4 compound have been studied by X-ray powder diffraction. It was found that crystal structure of YGe3 belongs to the DyGe3-type structure (a=4.0490(8) Å, b=20.779(3) Å, c=3.9184(8) Å), YGe1.9 to the DyGe1.9-type structure (a=4.106(1) Å, b=29.986(6) Å, c=3.995(8) Å) and Y3Ge4 to the Er3Ge4-type structure (a=4.052(1) Å, b=10.649(2) Å, c=14.265(3) Å). |
