Alkanol effects on fluorescence quenching of Safranine T by thiourea in reverse micellar medium of Aerosol–O–T in heptane

Summary: | The fluorescence characteristics of Safranine T (ST) (3,6-diamino-2,7-dimethyl-5 phenyl phenazinium chloride) in presence of thiourea have been studied in reverse micelles of Aerosol–O–T in heptane and in presence of alkanols. From the results of the fluorescence quenching of ST by thiourea the occupancy number of the quencher in the reverse micelle (RM), and the binding constant of the quencher with the RM have been determined using Encinas–Lissi equation. The alkanols added are found to affect the quenching process. |
