Summary: | A new method of fixation for distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint arthrodesis of the lesser toes using the Barouk screw has been used in five toes in five patients. The techniques as well as the advantages are discussed in this article. Deep infection, loss of fixation and failure of fusion were not evident in any of the cases.
The Barouk screw fixation is considered a viable alternative to previous forms of fixation for digital DIP joint arthrodesis. |
