The influence of high iron content in coal ash on measurement of 4.43 MeV carbon γ-rays

In the paper is considered the possibility of compensating the influence of anomalously high iron content in coal on its calorific value determination using 4.43 MeV carbon γ-ray from the 12 C (n, n'γ) 12 C reaction. The prominent 7.631 MeV and 7.645 MeV γ-rays from thermal neutron capture on i...

Description
Summary:In the paper is considered the possibility of compensating the influence of anomalously high iron content in coal on its calorific value determination using 4.43 MeV carbon γ-ray from the 12 C (n, n'γ) 12 C reaction. The prominent 7.631 MeV and 7.645 MeV γ-rays from thermal neutron capture on iron have been used in the correction formula which gave significant improvement of the accuracy of carbon content and calorific value determination.
