Summary: | A new homogenization kinetics prediction model for wrought superalloys based on the concept of diffusion distance was proposed. The micro-segregation and homogenization kinetics of Ni-based wrought superalloy, GH4141, were systematically studied by using the quantitative electron prob X-ray micro-analyzer (EPMA) analyses. There is a discrepancy between the predicted homogenization kinetics by the residual segregation index model and the experimental measurement. Both the experiments and theoretical analyses reveal that the homogenization kinetics can be reasonably predicted by the diffusion distance model under 1D-diffusion condition, with considering the diffusion-direction factor that is usually ignored. The new model provides a new option for predicting the homogenization kinetics with only necessarily knowing the original dendrite arm spacing and diffusion coefficient. |
