Description
Summary:A method for estimating the convective radon transport velocity in soils is developed. The approach under review is based on measurements of the radon concentration in soil air. Mathematical models for describing the convective radon transport velocity are discussed. Data on the convective radon transport velocity in commonly encountered soil types are presented. The results obtained from a 2-month experiment aimed at investigating the effect of the atmospheric condition on the convective radon transport velocity are reported. The soil gas radon concentration at 30– 70 cm depth was measured by means of passive track detectors (Type III-b SSNTDs) with 72– 96 h exposure time.
