Summary: | This paper describes a pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing care on a nurse-led ward with standard acute ward care for post-acute medical patients. Data on dependency at discharge (measured by the Barthel Index), destination at discharge and length of stay were collected. The pilot study indicated that a full evaluation using an RCT was feasible and provided useful information to guide the design of the main study. |
