Summary:With methods of the principal component analysis and the cluster analysis, the employment structure features and spatial distribution of 139 counties (cities and districts at county level) in Shandong province were explored. And 8 spatial models were given: serial-concentric circles, discontinuous-concentric circles, jumpable-concentric circles, mixed-concentric circles, polycentric- concentric circles, center-revolved-concentric, double-centres and belt-concentric. Finally the mechanism of the provincial border-regions is determined from 5 aspects: natural conditions, core city, transportation and the relation between cities.
