Summary: | A parameterized expression for the Burgers vectors of metadislocations is derived. On this basis we calculate the elastic line energy of metadislocations and demonstrate that the experimentally observed occurrence of Fibonacci relations between the members of a metadislocation series is due to energy minimization. All complex metallic alloy phases in which metadislocations have been experimentally observed are considered. |
