Description
Summary:Teratoid cysts are rare congenital cysts that represent less than 1.6% of all intraoral dermoid cysts. We report a case of teratoid cyst in the sublingual region. A 36-year-old man was referred to Akita University Hospital for painless swelling in the sublingual region. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a well-defined mass in the sublingual region. The cyst was enucleated via intraoral approach under general anesthesia. Histopathological and immunohistochemical examination revealed that the cyst was lined with squamous and pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelia containing cartilage and smooth muscle. The histopathological diagnosis was a teratoid cyst. The postoperative course was uneventful during the follow-up period of 6 months after enucleation.
