Summary: | This paper comprehensively addresses the life cycle of the building, from data requirement and verification to its storage, integrating construction, warranty, and maintenance management within BIM interoperability. Facilitating information management and making it available for the operation and maintenance phase enables the flow of information exchange between stakeholders. The benefits obtained from addressing these BIM interoperability issues are demonstrated with an example of an actual project. The most significant contribution of this article is the creation of a structure that addresses the life cycle of the building. The system allows the use of geometric and non-geometric information to enhance visual alerts along the flow of information exchange between stakeholders for small projects and residential buildings since it does not tackle space planning management. Among the contributions, the information flow has been detailed for the correct process functioning, and a suggested flowchart for project development emphasizes facilities management.
•Facilitates the access of building users to information.•Flowchart for project development with emphasis on facilities management.•Decrease in operating costs of the organization responsible for maintenance. |
