Summary: | Ceria zirconia solid solution (CZ) that contained BaSO4 was prepared by using coprecipitation method and was used as a supporter for preparing platinum catalyst. It is found that BaSO4 can be evenly distributed in the irregular mesoporous of the CZ. Furthermore, the addition of BaSO4 to the CZ is able to improve the desorption amount of sulfur species under reducing atmosphere, which could decrease the accumulation of sulfur species in the catalyst. Consequently, sulfur poisoning resistance of the catalyst has improved.
The results showed that the CZ has a strong adsorption capacity of the SO2. Adding BaSO4 to the CZ is able to improve the desorption amount of sulfur species under reducing atmosphere, which could decrease the accumulation of sulfur species in the catalyst. Consequently, it has enhanced the sulfur resistance of the catalyst. [Display omitted]
► BaSO4-doped ceria zirconia solid solution was successfully synthesized. ► Doped CZ could decrease the accumulation of sulfur species in the catalysts. ► The Pt/CZ–BaSO4 catalyst has a high performance of sulfur resistance. |
