Summary: | The pyrolysis modeling for fire simulations in FDS (Fire Dynamic Simulator) requires kinetic properties of a fuel material to predict the burning behavior of a fuel arrangement. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) at three different heating rates (5, 20, and 60 K/min) carried out to study the decomposition behavior of the wood sample. The sample obtained from wooden pallets commonly used in goods transport vehicles. The DTG result shows that wood material undergoes three decomposition reactions. A combination of model-free method (Kissinger analysis), simple hand calculations, and a Model-based method (Coats-Redfern Method) is used to obtain kinetic properties (Pre-exponential factor, Activation Energy and reaction order) of all three reactions. |
