Summary: | •Solvent-free protocol along with relevant data of DFT and spectroscopic studies.•Use of recyclable, inexpensive and nontoxic catalyst.•Eco-compatibility.•Tolerance of sensitive functional groups.•Waste minimization due to low E-factor and process mass intensity.
An eco-compatible and solvent-free protocol for the synthesis of xanthenediones has been developed with high substrate scope using inexpensive and nontoxic VOSO4 as reusable catalyst. Xanthenediones were characterized by different spectral analysis such as FT-IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. The synthetic attributes of xanthenediones were also demonstrated through different data of Computational studies. Furthermore, Green chemistry metrics data like low E-factor and PMI make the present method more sustainable as compared to earlier literature reports.
