Description
Summary:The present study is about electrochemical corrosion analysis of additive welded Cr-Mo steel weldments using Cold Metal Transfer Technology (CMT). Investigated electrochemical corrosion analysis of the Wire Arc Additive Manufacture (WAAM) weldments in the As welded (AW) and Post Weld Heat Treated (PWHT) conditions and drew a comparison between them at three different locations (top, middle, and bottom). Before corrosion studies, the AW and PWHT samples were characterized (OM and XRD) to assess the microstructural changes that correlate with the corrosion results. The electrochemical corrosion analysis of the As welded and heat-treated samples involves the Tafel study (to evaluate corrosion rate), and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) measurements were carried out. The phase analysis (microscopy and diffraction) results of the samples reveal that the ferrite content is increasing throughout the section. XRD peaks confirm the formation of Chromium-Carbide phases due to heat treatment. The spectroscopy results also ensure that the corrosion layer at the middle layer is highest in both AW and PWHT welded samples.
