Summary:La3+-doped strontium silicate phosphors, Sr1.995−1.5xLaxSiO4:0.005Eu2+, have been prepared via a solid-state reaction method. The as-prepared samples have been characterized by XRD and spectrophotometer, respectively. The XRD result shows that doping La3+ results in the phase transformation (β-Sr2SiO4→α׳-Sr2SiO4). The emission spectrum of the un-doped sample contains two distinct single bands, which come from Eu2+ on the two kinds of Sr2+ sites in the host of phosphor. The two single bands merge together with the increasing of La3+. Moreover, the CIE chromaticity coordinates of emission spectrum move to green region with the increasing of La3+. Doping La3+ shows a potential for improving the performance of Sr2SiO4:Eu2+ phosphors.
