Summary: | Searching for microwave absorbers with excellent microwave absorption performance in harsh environments is still a huge challenge. Here, a novel hybrid of TiB2 plates decorated by multi-layer TiC nanosheets (TiB2/TiC hybrids) was fabricated via a molten salt-mediated carbothermal reduction. Due to the increase of the reflective interface, the TiB2/TiC hybrids exhibited improved microwave absorption performance with a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value of −52.5 dB (13.1 GHz, 5.2 mm). The reasonable dielectric loss, higher dipole moments and interface effect whereas brought by the three-dimensional multilayer network formed by TiC nanosheets together promoted the improvement of the microwave absorption capacity of TiB2/TiC hybrids. |
