Description
Summary:[Display omitted] •Fourier modes provide insight on porous diffusive-reactive systems.•Effective diffusion in porous media is dependent on reaction rates.•High reaction rates facilitate higher averaged diffusive flux.•The coarser the porous medium, the higher the averaged diffusive flux.•Local morphology significantly impacts the averaged diffusive flux. The diffusive fluxes in porous media are inherently influenced by a reaction occurring at the internal surface. This investigation analyses this impact via a Fourier-mode analysis in a spherical coarsely porous model geometries consisting of random agglomerates of spheres. Trends are determined from the results and the overall impact for the given geometries estimated.
