Summary: | Bioadhesive is a substitute or complement to traditional surgical sutures for promoting wound closure. In this study, we developed a simply formulated tough bioadhesive based on the co-assembly of ε-poly-L-lysine (ε-PLL) and hyaluronan (HA) using a vacuum drying strategy. The formula of the bioadhesive was optimized by adjusting the solute content and the ε-PLL/HA mass ratio. The intermolecular interactions were characterized using infrared spectroscopy. Rheological behaviors, including apparent viscosity (cohesion) and fluid types of the adhesives, were investigated. The ε-PLL/HA bioadhesive demonstrated strong adhesion to wet tissues and other abiotic substrates.
