Description
Summary:Bioadhesive is a substitute or complement to traditional surgical sutures for promoting wound closure. In this study, we developed a simply formulated tough bioadhesive based on the co-assembly of ε-poly-L-lysine (ε-PLL) and hyaluronan (HA) using a vacuum drying strategy. The formula of the bioadhesive was optimized by adjusting the solute content and the ε-PLL/HA mass ratio. The intermolecular interactions were characterized using infrared spectroscopy. Rheological behaviors, including apparent viscosity (cohesion) and fluid types of the adhesives, were investigated. The ε-PLL/HA bioadhesive demonstrated strong adhesion to wet tissues and other abiotic substrates. [Display omitted] •A simply formulated tough bioadhesive is created through the co-assembly of ε-PLL and HA.•The bioadhesive can effectively maintain viscosity and demonstrate shear-thinning properties.•The bioadhesive exhibits a strong capability to bond wet tissues with robust adhesion strength.
