Summary: | •Alternative pyrolytic rejuvenator increased the proportion of reclaimed asphalt.•The rate of reclaimed asphalt can be 60% when using the alternative rejuvenator.•Pyrolytic product rejuvenated properties of aged bitumen from reclaimed asphalt.•Standard mechanical and rheological tests on extracted bitumen were performed.
The possibility of increasing the amount of reclaimed asphalt in the asphalt mixture was studied. Bitumen properties in asphalt mixture change during asphalt pavement lifetime. Rejuvenators regain fresh bitumen properties. Alternative rejuvenator used in this study was obtained by adding tire crumb to pyrolytic condensate processed from scrap tires. The results confirmed that the addition of a newly developed alternative rejuvenator allowed for an increased proportion of reclaimed asphalt. Standard mechanical tests and rheological tests proved the rate of reclaimed asphalt can be as high as 60% when using this alternative rejuvenator in asphalt mixture. |
