Summary: | The presence of fluoride in drinking water at high concentration is detrimental to health. In Morocco the fluoride content in groundwater in some regions exceeds 5 mg/l. Studies have been performed to remove fluoride from a Moroccan groundwater by electrodialysis in continuous operation using a pilot plant. The performances of two anionic exchange membranes were compared. An optimisation of electrodialysis operation was carried out for various experimental conditions including among others the fluoride content in the raw water. The water quality and other parameters, such as power consumption and recovery rate, were followed to show the optimum operating conditions. |
