Description
Summary:The surface modified pigment with ionic liquids was carried out for the first time as color electronic ink. For this purpose, we synthesized two geminal dicationic ionic liquid from imidazolium family with chloride as an anion. Then blue electronic ink containing copper phthalocyanine blue15 (PB) particles of modified with ionic liquids in tetrachloroethylene (TCE) were prepared. Some analysis was used to prove the correctness of the process like FE-SEM, TEM, FT-IR, TGA/DSC, EDAX. The characterization results confirmed that ILs had been successfully coated onto the surface of the PB particles. The TEM showed that particle size of modified pigments was not changed, less than 100 nm, after modification by the ILs while them zeta potential increased by more than 70 mv. [Display omitted] •Two geminal dicationic ionic liquid synthesized for first time.•Copper phthalocyanine 15:3 nanoparticles were modified with ionic liquid.•Ionic liquids show excellent property on electrophoretic mobility and zeta potential.
