Summary: | The numerical optimization of flow distribution was performed on an inlet header of the heat exchanger. The automated procedure which coupled the surrogate-based optimization (SBO) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation was employed in this study. The CFD model is validated with the experimental data in open library and then is driven by a SBO method in which the height of baffles, the inlet mass flow rate and inlet tube diameter were controlled to generate the samples. The objective function is performed by minimizing the absolute mass flow rate difference of liquid phase at each outlet. Using this methodology, a set of results has been found that shows significant reduction of the maldistribution of flow in the inlet header. |
