Description
Summary:•Climate change and biodiversity conservation crises are intersecting emergencies.•Transdisciplinarity is required to address climate change and biodiversity together.•Foregrounding indigenous perspectives is essential for research design and outcomes. As transitions researchers consider the research needs and priorities for the next decade, environmental challenges are deepening to create complex sustainability issues. Climate change and biodiversity conservation in particular are framed as intersecting emergencies. While transitions research can make significant contributions towards analysing and addressing these intersecting emergencies, an increased focus on transdisciplinarity and knowledge co-production, particularly through foregrounding Indigenous Peoples’ participation, is required to effectively encompass complex systems approaches, and to embed deep knowledge, experience, and stewardship in research design and application.
