As the main cutting unit of Polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit, PDC cutter directly determines the drilling performance and service life of PDC bit. According to failure analysis results of cutting tooth, the failures are mainly polycrystalline wear and cutter fracture. Impact resistance is one of the important indicators of the performance and quality of PDC cutting tooth. In this paper, based on the analysis of fracture failure mechanisms of PDC cutting tooth, the influences of interface structure on the impact resistance of PDC cutting tooth are experimentally explored. Under the same parameters, when the interface area between PDC layer and cemented carbide matrix increases within a certain range, the impact resistance of PDC cutters become better. Based on the experimental data, with the curve fitting method, the function relationship between the interface area and the impact resistance energy was obtained. The study provides the guidance for the further optimization design of the interface of PDC cutting tooth. |
