Summary: | The association between extreme temperatures and health outcomes has been frequently investigated during the last few years. This assessment is usually based on a time series design, a framework which has gained a substantial development in the last two decades. In this contribution we offer an overview of the recent methodological advancements which provide new statistical tools to examine the health effects of temperature in a time series setting, highlighting at the same time the main limitations that still affect this research area. |
