Random copolymers with pendant anthracene and carborane units were obtained by ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP). The copolymers exhibit a variety of emission behaviors in solution and mechanochromic behavior as solids. Photodimerization and photocleavage of the anthracene groups in the copolymers at 350 and 254 nm, respectively, was studied by UV–vis spectroscopy. Thermal properties of the copolymers were evaluated under nitrogen and in air in the range of 25–600 °C. |
