Summary: | Implant application is a commonly used treatment for restoring a missing single tooth in the posterior region.
In this case, the second molar was tipped and mesialized due to the early loss of the lower first molar. It was uprighted and distalized with orthodontic treatment. An overhanging tooth in the opposite arch was intruded to create enough space for restoration. A prosthetic restoration was then performed by placing an implant in the region where the tooth was missing.
When teeth are lost, adjacent teeth tend to shift towards the gap, while opposing teeth may elongate. This migration of teeth can pose challenges for prosthetic planning, aesthetics, chewing function, and retention.
No problems were encountered in the one-year follow-up of the restoration, which was completed by providing appropriate conditions. |
