Summary: | Community hospitals are essential to the patients, and good deployments of community hospitals can significantly improve the healthcare service accessibility and quality. Although many location-allocation models are developed in the literature, they are seldom applied to explicitly optimize the deployments of community hospitals. In this work, we not only discuss the fundamental concepts of community healthcare service, community hospital, and community hospital deployment steps but also employ a multi-objective location-allocation model for optimizing the existing deployments of community hospitals in reality. Through a real-world case study on Wuhou District of Chengdu, China, we gain managerial insights on better deployments of community hospitals. We analyze the key factors influencing the community hospital deployments and illustrate that tremendous benefits can be gained from leveraging the location-allocation model. |
