Summary:In this note a new procedure is proposed for accurate determination of ΔKth and Kmax,th thresholds. This procedure does not use any assumption besides an actual crack propagation, which occurs only when both thresholds are satisfied simultaneously. These thresholds are paramount for components in service where fatigue crack initiation could cause rapid growth to failure.
