Synthesis and preliminary TL/OSL properties of Li2B4O7: Cu-Ag phosphor for radiation dosimetry

Li2B4O7: Cu-Ag phosphor was synthesized by using solid state method. The Li2B4O7: Cu-Ag phosphor was characterized by using X-ray Diffractions (XRD), optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and thermoluminescence (TL) techniques. The phosphor Li2B4O7: Cu-Ag shows good OSL sensitivity about 1.3 and 0...

Description
Summary:Li2B4O7: Cu-Ag phosphor was synthesized by using solid state method. The Li2B4O7: Cu-Ag phosphor was characterized by using X-ray Diffractions (XRD), optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and thermoluminescence (TL) techniques. The phosphor Li2B4O7: Cu-Ag shows good OSL sensitivity about 1.3 and 0.86 times than that of commercially available Al2O3:C and LiMgPO4:Tb3+, B phosphors respectively. It was found to possess three OSL components and having photoionization cross-sections of 0.267×10−17, 1.79×10−17 and 6.46×10−17cm2. In TL mode Li2B4O7: Cu-Ag phosphor shows dosimetric peaks around 179°C and 248°C. The TL sensitivity was twice than that of Al2O3: C phosphor. In both the mode (TL/OSL) dose response was nearly in linear range.
