Description
Summary:The photocatalytic activities of two novel different 2-D coordination polymers constructed from 4-pyridylmentylphosphonic acid ligand have been explored. [Display omitted] •Two coordination polymers based on 4-pyridylmethylphosphonic acid have been hydrothermally synthesized and fully characterized.•The two compounds display different two-dimensional layered structures because the 4-pmp2− ligand adopts different coordination modes. Compound 1 displays wave-layered structure constructed from single inorganic chain while compound 2 features layered structure built from double inorganic chain.•The photocatalytic properties of compound 1 show that it exhibits good photocatalytic activity in degradation of methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (RhB) organic dye. Two coordination polymers, formula [Ni(4-pmp)(H2O)3] (1) and [Cu(4-pmp)] (2), (4-pmp2− = 4-pyridylmethylphosphonate), have been hydrothermally synthesized and fully characterized. The two compounds display different two-dimensional layered structures because the 4-pmp2− ligand adopts different coordination modes. Compound 1 displays wave-layered structure constructed from single inorganic chain, in which each PO3 tetrahedron was corner-shared with two NiNO3 octahedrons. Compound 2 features layered structure built from double inorganic chain, in which each PO3 tetrahedron is corner-shared with three CuNO3 tetrahedrons. The photocatalytic properties of compound 1 show that it exhibits good photocatalytic activity in degradation of methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (RhB) organic dye.
