Summary: | The characteristics of rocking ground motions and their influence on structural response are rarely considered. This study scrutinizes the structural response solely under the influence of rocking components, utilizing data derived from shaking table tests. Notably, a robust correlation is lacking among the peak parameters of rotational components. The maximum rocking response of each floor is similar to the input peak values of the rocking components. The interstory drift and base force of the structure are closely related to the rotational angle of the rotational components. The mentioned responses are mainly controlled by the structure's 1st mode(X-axis), positively correlated with the wavelet amplitude corresponding to the structure's first mode frequency. The structural acceleration response is closely related to the rotational acceleration of the rocking components. The proportion of higher order modes in acceleration response is usually large. Lower floor acceleration responses are greatly influenced by the high-frequency components of the rocking components, while upper floor acceleration responses are more affected by the low-frequency components. |
