Description
Summary:Polymeric scaffold containing essential oil has played a significant role in the biomedical applications field. Our study aims to prepare antimicrobial and antioxidant scaffold from polycaprolactone (PCL) and gelatin (Gel) polymers incorporated with oregano oil (PCL/Gel/Oil) using electrospinning technique. Fiber's morphology was changed by using oregano oil as observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). FTIR analysis demonstrates the presence of oregano oil in the PCL/Gel/Oil scaffold. Thermogravimetric (TG) and X-ray diffraction (X-rd) analysis Results show insignificant change for PCL/Gel scaffold's properties by using oregano oil. Cytotoxicity assay demonstrates the biocompatibility of PCL/Gel/Oil scaffold. Also, antibacterial results show significant activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. In conclusion, PCL/Gel/Oil scaffold may be a promising scaffold for wound dressing application. [Display omitted]
