Summary: | Several reviewed fluorine containing diamines for polyimide synthesis are shown.
•We reviewed strategies for synthesis of fluorine containing monomers for polyimides.•Ether-bridged aromatic fluorinated diamines are the most developed.•Perfluorinated monomers can also be utilized in polyimide preparation.•The perfluoroaromatic AB-type polyimide was prepared by Vaganova and colleagues.•Fluorine containing polyimides with 3D-controlled structure were prepared by Park.
Aromatic polyimides (PIs) have been noted for their excellent characteristics such as thermal stability, electrical properties and chemical resistance as well as their high strength and high modulus. Fluorine containing aromatic polyimides (FPIs) are intensively studied in order to improve their properties for optical and electronic applications. In this brief report we review and integrate the relevant literature on fluorine containing polyimides from the viewpoint of monomer design. |
