Thickness dependence of the magnetic properties in ultrathin Co/Ge(1 1 1) films

The existence of a low-Curie-temperature phase for Co/Ge(111) films is proofed by performing surface magneto-optic Kerr effect measurements at 150K. The coercive force of the films increases slowly between 7.5 and 15 monolayers, and then increases promptly at larger thicknesses. The different increa...

Description
Summary:The existence of a low-Curie-temperature phase for Co/Ge(111) films is proofed by performing surface magneto-optic Kerr effect measurements at 150K. The coercive force of the films increases slowly between 7.5 and 15 monolayers, and then increases promptly at larger thicknesses. The different increasing rates of the coercive force can be explained by the different interfacial roughness that influences the pinning of the domain walls.
