Effect of the pH in the luminescence of ruthenium tris-bipyridine derivatives

The effect of pH on the electronic absorption spectra and luminescence behavior of the [Ru(bpy) 3] 2+, [Ru(bpy) 2(mbpy)–NHCH 3] 2+ and [Ru(bpy) 2(mbpy)–acrd] 3+ complexes, where bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, mbpy = 4-methyl-4′-carbonyl-2,2′-bipyridine and acrd = 9-aminoacridinyl, has been investigated with...

Description
Summary:The effect of pH on the electronic absorption spectra and luminescence behavior of the [Ru(bpy) 3] 2+, [Ru(bpy) 2(mbpy)–NHCH 3] 2+ and [Ru(bpy) 2(mbpy)–acrd] 3+ complexes, where bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, mbpy = 4-methyl-4′-carbonyl-2,2′-bipyridine and acrd = 9-aminoacridinyl, has been investigated with special attention in the amide connection. The pH-dependent photophysical properties were investigated by steady state and time-resolved luminescence spectroscopy.
