Summary: | PURPOSE Intra-abdominal undescended testes are associated with a high risk of infertility and cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the progression of germ cell damage in this sub-group of cryptorchid boys. MATERIAL AND METHODS The material included cryptorchid patients < 6 years at surgery (median 2.9 years) with operative biopsy and testicular tissue from 55 boys with intra-abdominal testes (20 bilateral) and 415 boys with cryptorchid testes in the inguinal canal or distal to this (117 bilateral).
