Summary:We demonstrate how irresponsible use of social media by users not only compromises them personally, but also contributes to the dissemination of irresponsible behaviors towards environmental conservation and compliance with fishing regulations. In this context, self-regulation by fishing clubs could play a preventive role. From our discussion, we advocate the idea that fishermen are not only dealing with fish but with a public good.
