Description
Summary:Chitosan and Fe3O4 were used as raw materials to successfully synthesize chitosan@Fe3O4 by a simple, green and friendly solvent-free ball milling method. The surface morphology, phase composition, structure and magnetic properties of the chitosan@Fe3O4 material were characterized using SEM, FT-IR, PXRD, VSM methods. The prepared material was used as an adsorbent to remove the target congo red dye. The effect of experimental factors such as solution pH and contact time on the adsorption performance were studied and optimized. The adsorption behavior of chitosan@Fe3O4 material for congo red dye was investigated, and the adsorption mechanism, recycling performance of the materials were discussed. [Display omitted] •Chitosan@Fe3O4 adsorbent was synthesized by a simple, green and friendly solvent-free ball milling method.•The prepared Chitosan@Fe3O4 material displayed excellent adsorption properties for congo red dye.•The adsorption behavior, adsorption mechanism and recycling performance of Chitosan@Fe3O4 material were discussed.
