Enhanced biomass growth of lactobacillus acidophilus with CdS-NPs under visible light irradiation: Semi-artificial biohybrid system
The bacterial biomass growth in a semi-artificial biohybrid system composed of cadmium sulfide nanoparticles (as a light-harvesting semiconductor) and Lactobacillus acidophilus (as the non-pathogenic electron acceptor bacterium) was investigated. Summary: | The bacterial biomass growth in a semi-artificial biohybrid system composed of cadmium sulfide nanoparticles (as a light-harvesting semiconductor) and Lactobacillus acidophilus (as the non-pathogenic electron acceptor bacterium) was investigated. The photo-induced electrons generated from cadmium sulfide nanoparticles within the culture medium efficiently enhanced the biomass growth (about 1.15-fold) and indicated a significant difference (P-value = 0.003 ( |
