Description
Summary:[Display omitted] •Network-liked carbon layer was coated on the surface of SiO particles.•The overall structure of the composite is a type of secondary particle.•The unique structure endows the product with enhanced electrochemical properties. SiO/carbon composite with the network-liked carbon coating layer is prepared by a two-step spray-drying and subsequent pyrolysis method. Such a structure can not only effectively prolongs the cycle performance but also greatly improves the rate capability of the product. As a result, the obtained composite shows a reversible capacity of 1119.4mAh·g−1 after 100 cycles at a current density of 200 mA·g−1. Increasing the current densities to 500 mA·g−1 and 1000 mA·g−1, the capacity can still maintain 887.2mAh·g−1 and 577.7mAh·g−1, respectively, which indicate that the network-liked carbon coated SiO reported in this paper is a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries.
