Description
Summary:[Display omitted] •Composite particles of bio-based silica and MnAlLDH are prepared by coprecipitation.•PMMA matrix is improved in terms of hardness by addition of composite particles.•Resistance to the time dependent load is improved with addition of composite particles. The MgAl-LDH@SiO2 particles are prepared by the coprecipitation of LDH on silica originating from plants. Particles are of submicron size and are well dispersed in the matrix. Composites consisting of PMMA reinforced with MgAl-LDH@SiO2 particles have improved hardness and resistance to viscoelastic deformation, as tested by microhardness measurements.
