Summary: | A newer amphiphilic push-pull iminocoumarin 1 has been designed and synthesized. The iminocoumarin 1 shows unique binding affinity towards fluoride anion (Ka ∼106 M-1) over other anions (Cl-, Br-, I-, H2PO4-, AcO-, and HSO4-) in CH2Cl2. The colorimetric measurements shows iminocoumarin 1 has selective colorimetric response to fluoride anion. The experimental data obtained from UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopic titrations are consistent with the colorimetric measurements. |
