Description
Summary:The performance of a manufactured product was decided by a factor known as quality of surface. In roller burnishing process, a hard roller was pressed against a rotating cylindrical work piece and parallel to the axis of the work. This burnishing process can be efficiently used in various fields like Automobiles Manufacturing sector, Production of Machine tools, Aerospace Industries, Hydraulic cylinders, etc. In the current work, AA6063 cylindrical rods of 2 feet long and 25mm outer diameter are taken. A hardened steel roller is made as a tool and pressed against the cylindrical work piece. It is observed from the current work that, after burnishing, the surface finish and hardness were improved. The improvements of wear and corrosion resistance are also takes place.
