Summary: | In the present paper Aramid fiber (Kevlar 129) is chosen because of their superior properties, but due to its negatives such as moisture absorption and low compressive strength their applications are limited. To overcome this, hybrid composite fabrication is done along with basalt fiber and epoxy resin. At present, as there is an increase in the use of eco-friendly products natural fibers like basalt are selected for fabrication of low cost and light weight composites. An advantage of the basalt and Kevlar fibers includes high physical, chemical, mechanical properties. The present paper discusses the basics of basalt and Kevlar chemistry. Apart from this, an attempt to showcase the tests to investigate the mechanical properties like tensile strength, impact strength, compressive strength can be performed. The enhanced properties suggest possible applications of these composite materials in various fields. |
