Description
Summary:This study is based on determining the effectiveness of Sisal fibres on the strength characteristics of two types of clayey soil. Different fibre lengths and percentage inclusion to soil mass were selected and Unconfined Compressive Strength and California Bearing Ratio tests were carried out. Experimental results were then used to model the reinforced soil as embankment fill in finite element softwares, to determine the safety factors. Results showed that the random distribution of sisal fibres had positive effects on the strength parameters and stability of slopes. The optimum fibre lengths and their respective percentage inclusions were then established.
