Description
Summary:The present paper was aimed to account the latest development in hard turning via surface defect machining (SDM). Surface defects rendered intermittent relaxation to the cutting tool and led to decrease in average cutting forces, decrease temperature in the cutting zone and a improved quality of machined surface over conventional hard turning (CHT). Scanty literature on hard turning (HT) coupled with SDM was available and throw light on future endeavours in this field. However, the comprehensive studies of surface defect hard turning (SDHT) furnish the requirements for further development. Hence the present work emphasizes the works reported on SDHT so far.
