Summary: | Single crystal of strontium chloride doped urea (SCU) was grown by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The single crystal X-ray diffraction study revealed that SCU belongs to the tetragonal system. Incorporation of strontium was confirmed by powder XRD, EDAX and ICP-OES studies. The presence of strontium enhanced the thermal stability of urea from 130 °C to 165 °C. The SHG efficiency measured by Kurtz-Perry powder technique is found to be 0.52 and 0.84 times that of urea and KDP respectively. Further, the gamma radiation effect was studied on powder XRD, energy gap and SHG efficiency and is observed that these parameters are decreased upon irradiation. |
